Safety

FL8SAFE ensures excellent grip and retains its antiskid properties even in adverse weather conditions. The particularly high level of grip ensures exceptional safety, especially on the shorter runways and landing strips at regional airports – this is a long-term guarantee. Even when there is light snow and hoar frost, longer braking distances are not required. The directional stability of aircraft remains exceptionally high even in crosswinds.

Operational benefit

Due to regional airports usually having shorter runways and landing strips, airlines must reduce their payload by 15 per cent in certain weather conditions – as dictated by safety regulations. With FL8SAFE, runways and landing strips will remain sufficiently antiskid to be considered dry up to a certain level of wetness (dry when wet), so these restrictions will not apply.

Environmental protection

It is not just the longevity of FL8SAFE that has a positive impact on the environment. Airport operators will also need up to 85 per cent less liquid de-icing agents. FL8SAFE is recyclable and is reprocessed into asphalt coatings. POSSEHL Spezialbau has been producing its special coating completely free of tar since 1996, and it is also free of nonylphenol since 2022. More and more renewable materials are being used in the components.
